What is Restylane?

Restylane is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment. It enhances your looks naturally by restoring your skin's youthful volume, creating softness and revitalising your appearance.

Restylane is injected into the skin in tiny quantities using a very fine needle. The gel gives natural volume to smooth away the appearance of lines, restore lost volume in the skin to restore cheeks to their former glory and to create fuller, shapelier lips.

The treatment is very quick and often takes less than 20 minutes. No skin test is required because Restylane does not contain any animal derived ingredients.

How does Restylane work?

Restylane is a crystal-clear gel made from a unique stabilized non-animal hyaluronic acid and water. The gel is a biotechnologically produced version of hyaluronic acid, a tissue friendly substance that occurs naturally in the body which plays a vital role in the production of healthy skin and the skin's hydration system.

By replenishing nature's supply of hyaluronic acid Restylane revitalises and plumps up the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and giving a softer look. The gel is injected into the skin to restore lost volume. Restylane instantly diminishes the effects of wrinkles and lines, restores cheeks, creates shapely lips to give a more youthful look. It is not collagen and it is not a Muscle relaxing injection. Restylane does not affect facial expression.

Recent studies illustrate that Restylane stimulates the production of collagen and improves overall skin tone and elasticity.

How long will a treatment last?

Restylane is long lasting but not permanent You always have a choice to continue or change the combination of treatments - and the procedure can be repeated as often as you like.

Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment 6 to 12 months after an initial treatment of wrinkles. When the lips have been treated a follow-up treatment is normally needed after about 6 months.

A touch-up treatment within 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment may be necessary to achieve an optimal correction.

Clinical experience indicates that follow-up treatment normally require a smaller amount of the product.

She recommended Dr Rakus - she was right. I know I'm in safe hands and my treatments have been effective without side effects and have drawn many compliments".

Dr. Rita Rakus. Her perfectly plumped lips are said to be soft enough to pass the ultimate "kiss test", and she travels all over the country with her syringes of wrinkle-fillers such as Restylane Perlane and Restylane Lipp. One socialite, who makes special trips to see her, says: "I wouldn't let anyone else come near my lips, except my husband".
